Katzenzungen is German for “cat tongue,” which is a very popular chocolate treat all over Europe and South America.

As usual, Americans weren’t invited to the party when it comes to awesome candies and desserts. We don’t have any info on how they came to be called cat tongues. They only bear a slight resemblance to a tongue of any kind but whatever.

Heads up that the front of the box just says milk chocolate but the traditional ingredients include flour and the packaging on this specific manufacturer’s version of the dessert does say that it may contain gluten.
